Diagnosis and Non-Surgical Management Course

This is the second course in the Shoulder Course Series.

In this course you will learn to make an accurate diagnosis of, and apply evidence-informed non-surgical management, including specific physiotherapy treatment for specific shoulder conditions within the main diagnostic categories:

The Stiff Shoulder Module

In this module you will learn how to make an accurate diagnosis of stiff shoulder conditions using clinical examination and diagnostic imaging, and how to apply evidence-based, non-surgical management for frozen shoulder and glenohumeral osteoarthritis.

The Unstable Shoulder Module

In this module you will learn a classification system for traumatic and atraumatic shoulder instability that helps guide management. You will learn to perform an accurate clinical examination, indications for diagnostic imaging, how to apply evidence-based, non-surgical management including physiotherapy rehabilitation for glenohumeral instability, and know who to refer for orthopaedic evaluation.

The Rotator Cuff Module

This module covers the pathoaetiology, natural history, diagnosis and non-surgical management of rotator cuff-related conditions. Lessons in this module begin with the diagnosis of subacromial pain and are then divided according to evidence for specific management of rotator cuff related conditions.

The Acromioclavicular Joint

This module covers the pathoaetiology, natural history, diagnosis and non-surgical management of acromioclavicular and sternoclavicular joint conditions.

Workshops

A one-day workshop will be held for each of the four modules in the “Diagnosis and Non-Surgical Management” Course. Completion of the online module is a pre-requisite for workshop registration. Each 1-day workshop covers the following for the corresponding module topic:

  • Practical demonstration and performance of diagnostic tests
  • Live patient assessments
  • Non-surgical management planning and case studies
  • Physiotherapy treatment and rehabilitation case studies

These are one-day, practical workshops that will enable you to apply your knowledge to clinical practice.

Completion of all lessons in each applicable module in the Diagnosis and Non-Surgical Management Course is a pre-requisite for each workshop registration.  The workshop includes:
